A Little About Our History
Hugh (Alex) Dantzer, Owner/Designer of InstaDeck™, first conceptualized the idea for decking tiles in 1983 while building a deck at his first home. He wondered what ordinary people without construction experience did when they wanted to build a deck. He realized that they would probably have to pay a lot of money to a local contractor to build one, and that it would take a lot of time to deal with the construction. How could he help these folks?
InstaDeck™ was the answer. This revolutionary new concept, which came with all the materials pre-manufactured (pre-cut wood, pre-drilled holes, pressure treated) could provide deck builders everywhere with the easy answer they were looking for. And it did! The InstaDeck™ product became a run-away success in Canada and laid the groundwork for future expansion of the company.
Decknow™ was formed in 2005 to meet the outdoor decking needs of the online community and is the exclusive online distributor of InstaDeck™ (est. 2003) modular deck kits.
